I could come up with the following: 1) it is, obviously, one stop slower, so for the same exposure a lower shutter time or a higher ISO value is required; 2) an f/4 cannot produce a depth of field that is as shallow as an f/2.8; 3) auto-focus is probably slower in dark situations; 4) the f/2.8 bokeh cannot be achieved.
